Data tables for the transport offer repository

The objective of a data warehouse (urban and interurban transport) is to facilitate the interface with the applications (Methods, Ticketing, Information and Operations departments). The theoretical offer data are accessible and updated in the data warehouse and associated with the real-time operation data. Another interesting possibility to this software is to be able to program monitoring and analysis tools. The data model will include statistics and dynamics tables with a relational hierarchy and dynamic attribute values. Let’s explain.

The Camtek’s model is inspired by the Transmodel principles. It is also a function of client usage and business application environment. A first static repository concerns the 'physical stops' (topography of the stops, stop points, codes (AVL, Ticketing, transit authority), identifiers, geographical coordinates, management rules, etc.), and 'child' functional relationships with the 'commercial stops', 'depots', 'transport tickets', 'municipalities' tables, etc.). Each table has a management method and a data treatment method on its own, independently of the others.

The second static repository includes the transport lines ('identifying', 'commercial lines', 'contractual lines', ...), with 'child' functional relationships with the 'equipment' tables and the support for the 'networks' and 'carriers' tables. These two repositories are associated according to a model and propose dynamic attribute values. In relation with the static repositories, a dynamic referential includes a tables set, with  “routes”, “timetable”, etc. Thanks to the hierarchical and functional coordination between those tables, we have access to data quality, control (consistency test), a facility of management (upstream interfaces ) and distribution (downstream interfaces). For a data warehouse scheme, click here

This data model and the pivotal system will facilitate the creation of analysis solutions, with indicators ’programmation. For example: the distance by type of day and sub-line (of the line); -the number of trips by type of day and by municipality; -the amplitude (start, end, duration) by type of day and sub-line; the inter-stop distance, cumulative inter-stop distances, by type of day, by trip, by municipality; -the number of passages and stop times for a specific stop (e.g. : station), by time slot; -the count of departures and returns to depot by time slot, by depot;  -the number of vehicles per municipality, by time slot and type of day; -the travel time (minimum, maximum), by type of day, number of runs per line and number of line-services, by month...), etc. In addition, plugins will help calculate units of work, analyse journey’s time, and create statistical reports on request. To resume, it offers a rapidity of data treatment for a longer analysis and investigation time.
